Designing the Spatial Interface: Beyond Windows and Tabs

The window-based interface paradigm has served computing well for forty years. But it was designed for a world where humans manually operated each application. AI changes this relationship fundamentally.
When autonomous agents are working on your behalf, you do not need to stare at a single application window waiting for it to finish. You need to see the whole system at once — which agents are active, what knowledge they are using, and how the outputs connect.
RVOS uses a spatial workspace as its primary interface metaphor. Instead of overlapping windows, you work on a canvas where panels, agents, and outputs are arranged spatially. You can zoom out to see the entire workflow, or zoom in to interact with a specific component.
This spatial model maps naturally to how creative and analytical work actually happens. Ideas do not live in tabs. Knowledge does not fit neatly into windows. Workflows span multiple steps that benefit from being visible simultaneously.
